Switched to a new phone and wondering how to migrate your Binance account? Many people face this. Your Binance account isn't tied to a specific phone — just install the app on your new device and sign in. However, certain security settings need special attention, or you might get stuck at the verification step. Install the app on your new phone by downloading the official Binance APP from the Binance official website. iPhone users can follow our iOS installation guide.

What to Do Before Switching Phones

While your old phone still works, doing this prep work makes migration much smoother.

Confirm Your Account Details

Make sure you remember your login email or phone number and password. If you've been using fingerprint login and forgotten your password, reset it now while you still have access to the old phone.

Back Up Your Google Authenticator Key

This is the most critical step. If you've bound Google Authenticator, the authenticator on your old phone won't work after the switch. You need the 16-character backup key from when you originally set it up — with this key, you can restore the authenticator on your new phone.

If you didn't save the backup key, while the old phone is still accessible:

  1. Open Binance app → Security Settings → Google Authenticator
  2. Select "Change Authenticator" or "Reset"
  3. The system generates a new QR code and key
  4. Write down the key on paper
  5. Scan the QR code or enter the key in Google Authenticator on your new phone

Record Your Security Settings

On your old phone, check and record:

  • Bound email address
  • Bound phone number
  • Whether withdrawal whitelist is enabled
  • Your anti-phishing code
  • Your fund password

Installing and Signing In on Your New Phone

Install the App

On your new phone, open a browser and visit the official Binance website to download the latest app. Android users download and install the APK; iPhone users follow the iOS guide.

Open the app and enter your email/phone number and password. Since this is a new device, the system will trigger security verification.

Complete Security Verification

The system may require one or more of these verification steps:

Email verification: Enter the code sent to your email.

Phone verification: Enter the SMS code sent to your phone. If you changed phone numbers along with phones, this step may be problematic (covered below).

Google Authenticator code: Enter the current 6-digit code from Google Authenticator. This requires having already restored the authenticator on your new phone.

Migrating Google Authenticator

This is where things most commonly go wrong during a phone switch — pay extra attention.

Scenario 1: You Have the Backup Key

Install Google Authenticator on your new phone, select "Manual entry," and input the 16-character key you saved along with the account identifier. The authenticator is now restored and generates the same codes as your old phone.

Scenario 2: Your Old Phone Still Works

If the old phone is available and the authenticator still opens, use Google Authenticator's export feature:

  1. In Google Authenticator on the old phone, tap the menu in the top right
  2. Select "Export accounts" or "Transfer accounts"
  3. Select the accounts to export
  4. The app generates a QR code
  5. Install Google Authenticator on your new phone, select "Import," and scan the QR code

Scenario 3: Old Phone is Lost/Broken with No Backup Key

This is the trickiest situation. You'll need to contact Binance support for manual unbinding:

  1. On the Binance app or website login page, find "Unable to verify" or "Security verification unavailable"
  2. Select "Reset Google Authenticator"
  3. Submit identity verification materials as prompted (typically a selfie holding your ID, plus front and back photos of your ID)
  4. Wait for review — usually 1 to 7 business days

Once approved, the authenticator is unbound and you can sign in and set up a new one.

Changing Phone Numbers Too

If you're switching phone numbers along with phones, the process is more involved.

Old Number Still Active

If the old number hasn't been canceled, use it to complete login verification first. After signing in, update your bound phone number to the new one in security settings.

Old Number No Longer Available

If the old number has been canceled or can't receive SMS, try signing in using other verification methods (email code or Google Authenticator code), then change the phone number in security settings.

If all verification methods are unavailable, you'll need to contact Binance support for manual review.

Post-Migration Checklist

After successfully signing in on your new phone, verify each of these:

  • Login password works correctly
  • Google Authenticator generates valid codes
  • Bound phone number is your current number
  • Bound email is correct
  • Fund password works correctly
  • Anti-phishing code hasn't changed
  • Withdrawal whitelist settings are intact
  • Asset balances are accurate

Once everything checks out, you're all set to use the Binance app on your new phone.

Handling Your Old Phone

After migration, sign out of the Binance app on your old phone, or uninstall the app entirely. If you're selling or giving away the old phone, always perform a factory reset to completely erase all data.

Also, remove the old phone's authorization in Binance's Device Management to ensure that even if the app on the old phone wasn't signed out, no one else can use your account.
