Many apps now support face recognition login, and the Binance app is no exception. Having to type your password every time you open the app gets tedious — enabling face recognition makes it instant. Make sure you have the latest version from the Binance official website — the official Binance APP. iPhone users can check our iOS installation guide.
What Is Face Recognition Login?
Simply put, it uses your face instead of a password to log into the app. On iPhones it's called Face ID; on Android phones it may be called facial recognition or face unlock. The principle is the same — the app uses your phone's front camera to scan your facial features and automatically logs you in once it confirms your identity.
Modern phone facial recognition technology is quite mature — it can't be fooled by a simple photo. Apple's Face ID uses infrared structured light to create a 3D facial model with security approaching that of fingerprints.
Prerequisites
Phone Hardware Support
Your phone must have face recognition capability. iPhones X and later all support Face ID. Most mid-to-high-end Android phones from recent years also have face recognition.
System Face Recognition Enabled
Before using it in the Binance app, enable face recognition in your phone's system settings and register your facial data.
iPhone: Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Set Up Face ID Android: Settings → Security/Biometrics → Face Recognition (paths vary by brand)
Already Logged Into Binance
You need to be signed in to enable this feature — you can't set it up from the login screen.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Go to Security Settings
Open the app → tap profile icon (top left) → find "Security" or "Security Settings" → tap to enter.
Step 2: Find Biometric Option
Look for "Biometric Authentication" or "Fingerprint/Face" in the security settings.
Step 3: Enable Face Recognition
Toggle it on. The app will ask you to verify your identity by entering your password or Google Authenticator code. After verification, the system will activate your phone's face recognition — look at the camera to complete setup.
Step 4: Test It
Close and reopen the app to see if the face recognition prompt appears. If it recognizes you and logs in, the setup was successful.
Face ID vs. Fingerprint
The Binance app supports both. Here's a quick comparison:
Face recognition pros: Hands-free — just a glance to unlock. Convenient when fingers are wet or dirty.
Face recognition cons: May fail in very dark environments. Certain angles may require adjustment.
Fingerprint pros: Unaffected by lighting, typically faster recognition. More discreet — can unlock in your pocket.
Fingerprint cons: May fail with wet, dirty, or peeling fingers.
Both offer similar security levels. Choose based on personal preference, or enable both as backups for each other.
FAQ
Can I still use password login?
Yes. Face recognition is an additional convenience — it doesn't replace passwords. If recognition fails, you can always switch to password login.
Can someone else's face log into my account?
Under normal circumstances, no. Face recognition uses the facial data registered in your phone's system. Unless someone else has also registered their face in your phone's settings, they can't bypass it.
Face recognition stopped working?
Possible causes: too dark or too bright lighting, significant facial changes (mask, hat, new glasses), obstructed or dirty front camera, or needing re-setup after a system/app update. Try cleaning the camera and adjusting lighting.
What about switching phones?
On a new phone, you'll need to set up face recognition again — register your face in the new phone's system first, then re-enable biometric login in the Binance app.
Security Advice
While convenient, don't rely on face recognition as your only security measure. Keep Google Authenticator bound, use additional verification for important operations (withdrawals, security changes), regularly check login history, and never sign in on untrusted devices.
Biometric login addresses everyday convenience — it doesn't replace other security measures. Use multiple security features together for maximum account protection.
